When We Get It Wrong

Correction Policy

A medical site that never corrects anything is not a careful site. It is a site that does not check. This page says how to tell us we are wrong, what happens next, and how you will be able to see that something changed.

What counts as an error

Anything that would lead a reader to a different decision if it were right. A dose, a recovery time, a risk we understated, a study we read wrong, a licence we described as broader than it is, a doctor credited with work that is not theirs.

Spelling, grammar and broken links are not errors in this sense. We fix them without a note.

How to tell us

Use the enquiry form on the Contact page and choose the option for correcting something, or telephone +82 2-517-5767. Point us at the page and, if you can, at the sentence. If you have a source, send it. You do not need to be a doctor and you do not need to explain who you are.

What we do next

01

We acknowledge that we received it, within two working days.

02

We check the claim against the sources. If it touches clinical content, a doctor who treats at the clinic checks it.

03

If you are right, we correct the page and add a note. If we think the page is right, we write back and say why.

04

Either way you get an answer, normally within ten working days.

Something we can act on faster

If a page states something that could lead a reader to harm, we take the sentence down first and work out the correct wording afterwards. We do not leave it up while we deliberate.

How a correction appears

A corrected page carries a short note at the foot that says what was wrong, what it now says, and the date. The note stays. We do not remove it once the page has been right for a while, because the point of the note is that the record is visible.

What we will not do. Quietly change a clinical claim and leave the page looking as though it always said that. If the meaning changed, the note says so.

Corrections we make without being asked

Pages are re-checked on a cycle, and whenever an approval, a safety notice or a society guideline changes. A correction that comes out of our own checking is noted in the same way as one a reader sent us. Nothing about the note says who found it.

Things this page does not cover

  • Disagreement about clinical judgment. Where the evidence genuinely runs both ways, we say so on the page rather than pick a side and call the other one an error.
  • Requests to remove accurate information. We correct what is wrong. We do not delete what is right because it is unwelcome.
  • Your own records. To correct something in your patient record, or your details in an enquiry, see the Privacy Policy.
