Chin Filler Before and After: Balancing Your Profile

Chin filler adds projection or length to a chin that sits back or looks short, which can balance the profile and make the jawline look more defined. It uses hyaluronic acid dermal filler, the change is visible the same day, and it settles over about two weeks. The chin is one of the areas where filler tends to last well, because it moves less than the lips. It is often planned together with the smile lines; see our nasolabial filler guide.

What chin filler can change

  • A recessed chin: bringing the chin forward so it lines up better with the lips and nose in profile.
  • A short chin: adding a little length for a more balanced lower face.
  • Shape: a softer, more tapered point, which is a common request in Korea.
  • Jawline definition: a stronger chin can make the jaw edge look cleaner from the side.

Filler cannot replace bone surgery for a large difference, and it does not treat fat under the chin. A doctor will tell you if your goal is beyond what filler can do.

Before and after: what to expect

  • Immediately: the new projection is visible. Some swelling makes the area look slightly fuller.
  • First week: tenderness and any bruising fade.
  • Around 2 weeks: the final shape shows. This is the right time for a review.
  • Duration: commonly a year or more in the chin, depending on the product and the person.

What the treatment involves

  • The doctor looks at your profile, front view and bite, and agrees the shape with you.
  • Numbing is used, and most fillers contain a local anaesthetic.
  • Filler is placed with a needle or blunt cannula and shaped. You review it in the mirror before leaving.

Aftercare

  • Avoid pressing or massaging the chin for the first day unless advised.
  • Skip saunas and heavy exercise for a day or two.
  • Sleep on your back the first night if you can.

Risks to know about

  • Swelling, bruising and tenderness, which settle.
  • Asymmetry or small lumps that can usually be smoothed at review.
  • Rarely, filler can affect a blood vessel, which is serious and needs urgent treatment. Hyaluronic acid can be dissolved with hyaluronidase.

Filler is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or where there is infection in the area.

Doing it safely in Seoul

At Maylin Apgujeong, a doctor assesses your whole profile before adding volume to the chin, keeps the shape natural for your face, and explains the plan in writing before you book. Consultation is in English.

Chin filler in Korea: what visitors usually want to know

Chin filler is one of the most requested filler treatments in Korean clinics. The usual approach is structural: a firmer hyaluronic acid filler is placed deep, close to the bone, to bring the chin forward and refine the lower face, rather than filling the soft tissue on top.

Korean doctors also tend to start conservatively, often with around 1 mL or less on a first visit, and add more later if needed. That keeps the profile natural and avoids a chin that looks long or heavy.

Korean or imported filler

Korea makes its own hyaluronic acid fillers, and imported brands such as Juvederm and Restylane are also available. Both are licensed products; they differ in firmness, feel and often price. Ask which product is used, and keep the name for your records.

Timing it on a trip

The new shape shows the same day, but there is some swelling and occasionally a bruise for a few days. Have it early in your stay so you can see the settled result before you fly home. The cost depends on the product and amount, and you get a clear quote after the consultation.

FAQ

How long does chin filler last?

Commonly a year or more, depending on the product and the person.

Can chin filler slim my face?

It can make the lower face look more balanced and the jaw more defined, but it does not reduce width. Jaw muscle width is treated differently.

Is it reversible?

Yes, hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with hyaluronidase.

Is there downtime?

Minimal. Some swelling for a few days.

How much does chin filler cost in Korea?

It depends on the product and how much is used. Many visitors find it lower than at home. You get a clear quote after the consultation.

Korean filler or Juvederm?

Both are licensed hyaluronic acid fillers. Juvederm is imported; Korean brands are often less expensive. The right product depends on how firm the filler needs to be for the area.

What is the riskiest place for fillers?

Areas with important blood vessels close to the surface, such as around the nose and between the brows, carry the highest risk. Every area needs careful technique, and hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved if a problem occurs.

Can filler fix a double chin?

No. Filler adds projection; it does not remove fat under the chin. A stronger chin can make the jawline look cleaner, but fat itself needs a different treatment.

Plan a visit: send a side-profile photo on WhatsApp, LINE, or KakaoTalk, and we will explain what chin filler could change for you, in English, before you land.
